James Frey, 1969

James Christopher Frey is an American writer know for novel Bright Shining Morning and memoirs A Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard, all bestsellers. A Million Little Pieces, published as an autobiographical memoir about Frey’s imprisonment and struggle with a crack addiction, was later revealed to be highly exaggerated, to which Frey admitted, “I’ve never denied I’ve altered small details.”
Karen LeRosier: Small details falls short of expanding five hours jail time into 87 days in prison. He upped the conflict, conflict, conflict as if he was writing fiction, fiction, fiction.
