Saturday…Just Saying

George Moore, 1852 – 1933

Moore was an Irish novelist, short-story writer, poet, and art critic.  His first novel, A Modern Lover was about the art scene of the 1870s & 1880s. The circulating libraries in England banned the book because of the explicit amorous activities of the main character. His next two novels A Mummers Wife and A Drama in Muslin were banned as well. Undeterred, he continued to fight censorship and write about sensitive subjects to the dismay of church and state.
